Menard, the Japanese cosmetic house, was established in 1959 by Daisuke Nonogawa guided by the philosophy of “Seeking True Beauty". Mr. Nonogawa named the company after the mythological goddess Maenad, who served the Greek god Dionysus. Menard, which is also a French name, brings images of France in mind, which served as a great inspiration for all the products – thus the slogan "born in France and raised in Japan” emerged.
The first Menard salon was opened in 1964 in Japan, and the Menard Museum that showcases the collection of Nonogawa opened in 1987. In 1999, Menard Cosmetics France and Nippon Menard Cosmetics created a joined venture. In 2002, Nippon Menard France SAS was created and Menard Institute was affirmed, followed by The Menard Institute Monte Carlo in 2009. The Menard Institute Paris is located in the prestigious Rue de la Paix.
Menard was placed as the 31st world cosmetic company by the magazine WWWD Beauty Report in 2004. The products are luxurious and of high quality, enjoying great reputation in enhancing women’s beauty. Menard plans on expanding the "Beauty Network" to the world.
The most famous fragrance of the house is Merefame from 1979.
Designer Menard has 7 perfumes in our fragrance base. The earliest edition was created in 1979 and the newest is from 2012. Menard fragrances were made in collaboration with perfumers Shuji Suzuki and Guy Robert.
